Potts Point, Queensgate.
Breathing new life into the iconic streetscape of Potts Point.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Comprised of 48 apartments and 60 hotel rooms across a row of five multi-storey buildings and 10,000 sqm of floor area. The refursbishment and renovation of the five historically significant buildings ranging from the 1890’s to the 1920’s will breathe new life into the iconic streetscape of Potts Point.
Fully completed, Queensgate will include two pubs, a medical centre, gaming room, end-of-trip facilities and a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and 4 basement levels. Decode is proud to be partnering again with IRIS Capital to bring a cultural renaissance to the famous Darlinghurst street through Queensgate.
APPROACH AND INNOVATIONS
The five buildings include the Lowestoft, built in the 1890s, which will be renamed Sovereign while next door the three-storey Regent and its Bourbon Bar will have their facades restored. Further down the road, a pair of post-war houses will be adapted into another apartment building, Monarch. The Commodore, built in 1928, will become The Consort. At the end of the row the building that is the former home of the Carousel Lounge and Palladium nightclubs will become the last apartment building, The Empress.
The heritage restoration of the facades of these historically and culturally significant buildings will ensure the metropolitan and colourful history of the streetscape is preserved.
