About the project
The project brief included the 5-stage delivery of the CQC2T expansion within Building K15 inclusive of rooms LG01, LG01A, LG01B, LG01C and LG02.
The extended CQC2T consist of ISO-standard 8 clean rooms to house 6 Scanning Tunnelling Microscopes (STM’s) and up to 4 to 6 dilution refrigerators, including utility areas such as preparation areas, workshops and a plant room.
Multiple challenges were overcome in the delivery of this refurbishment and fitout project for the University.
The CQC2T facility included highly specialised research equipment that required tightly controlled conditions to operate effectively.
The services installed were engineered and constructed to reliably support these conditions. Equipment is sensitive to temperature fluctuations, electromagnetic interference and vibration.
Thorough and exceptional care was exercised to ensure that the fitout and installation of specialised equipment comply with the stringent design specifications.
